Lopiano Receives 2008 Sports Lawyers Association Award of Excellence

Donna Lopiano, President of Sports Management Resources and former Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Sports Foundation has been named the recipient of the 2008 Sports Lawyers Association’s “Award of Excellence” in recognition of her years of service to the sports industry.  The Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed by the Sports Lawyers Assocation (SLA).  It is presented to an individual who has made positive contributions to the world of sports. 

The award will be presented at the 2008 Annual SLA Meeting, at a luncheon for that purpose at 12:15 pm on Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

The Sports Lawyers Association is a non-profit, professional organization made up of attorneys whose business is sports and the athletes who play them.  Members represent professional and amateur athletes, teams, leagues and conferences, players associations, key sporting events, sports media, apparel, equipment and licensing companies and a host of other sports organizations. The goal of SLA is to promote the understanding and advancement of the informed and ethical practice of sports law.  SLA's 1,200 plus members are primarily located in the United States but there are international members as well.
