Sports Management Resources (SMR) consultants Donna Lopiano and Christine Grant are speaking at the 2008 NCAA Gender Equity Issues Forum that is being held at the Hilton Logan Airport Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts on April 27-29. The Forum is open to representatives of all NCAA member institutions. Sessions include Title IX, sexual harassment, retaliation issues, gender equity planning, fundraising strategies, expanding opportunities for diverse students, health and safety issues for student-athletes, NCAA research, certification, self-study, EADA, pay equity, media and marketing strategies for women's sports, hazing policies, enhancing the role of the SWA, improving the experience of LGBT athletes, internet activities and student-athlete involvement and pregnancy policies.
Lopiano is joining Nancy Hogshead-Makar and Andrew Zimbalist as members of an opening panel moderated by NCAA President Myles Brand on the topic, "Gender Equity: Where Do We Go From Here?". She is also doing a session on "Institutionalizing the Mechanisms of Value Leadership". Christine Grant is joining Amy Wilson of the University of Iowa and Amy Hucthausen of the NCAA in presenting a session on "Gender Equity Planning".
